Emoss joins industry discussion on the future of construction electrification in Gothenburg

On 16 October, Toine Frazer and Thijs Swagten will represent Emoss at the"Electrification Requirements for Construction Contractors" networking event in Gothenburg.

The event brings together contractors, machine manufacturers, technology providers and public authorities to discuss how the sector can meet increasingly ambitious electrification targets.

New requirements demand practical solutions

The City of Gothenburg is raising the bar for construction projects. From 2026 onwards, several municipal organisations will apply common electrification requirements in construction tenders, with the ambition that at least 70% of vehicles and machines used in these projects will be electrically powered by 2030.

For many organisations, the challenge is no longer understanding why electrification is needed. The focus is shifting to implementation: selecting the right technology, ensuring operational reliability and maintaining productivity on site.

Not every machine fits a standard EV platform

Construction and infrastructure applications often have demanding duty cycles, high power requirements and long service lives. As a result, off-the-shelf solutions are not always available.

Whether it is a specialised vehicle, a heavy-duty machine or an application that requires high energy capacity, electrification needs to be aligned with the way the equipment is actually used. That requires flexibility in both system design and integration.

Two routes to electrification

At Emoss, we support customers through two proven routes.

The first is OEM integration, where electric drivetrains are incorporated into new vehicles and machines. The second is retrofit, where existing assets are repowered and given a second life as zero-emission equipment.

Both routes are supported by the same scalable e-powertrain platform, allowing manufacturers and fleet owners to accelerate electrification without starting from scratch.

Sharing lessons from real-world projects

Topics such as electrification requirements, energy supply, logistics and digitalisation are all on the agenda in Gothenburg.

For Emoss, these discussions are most valuable when they are grounded in real-world experience. Across Europe, fleet owners, contractors and manufacturers are already taking concrete steps towards electrification. By sharing lessons learned and practical insights, the industry can move faster and avoid repeating the same challenges.

We look forward to meeting industry partners, exchanging knowledge and contributing to the next phase of construction electrification.
