Meet Monique (Front Office)
the woman who keeps things running!
When you walk into Emoss, Monique is likely to be one of the first people you see. But her work goes far beyond welcoming visitors and answering the phone. From business travel and workwear to orders and facilities: Monique makes sure everything is taken care of behind the scenes. As Head of Emergency Response, she also plays an important role in safety at Emoss. She has now been carrying out this wide range of tasks for five years.
From hospitality to the front office
Before joining Emoss, Monique spent her entire career in hospitality. During the pandemic, she began thinking about her future. Through a friend who worked at Emoss, she heard about the front office position.
At first, it did not feel like an obvious move. Working behind a desk was completely new to her. Still, she decided to go for it, keeping Pippi Longstocking’s well-known words in mind: “I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do that.” It soon became clear that her experience in hospitality was actually very useful. After all, an important part of her work at Emoss is also about people: being welcoming, listening, responding quickly and understanding what is needed.
No two days are the same
For Monique, there is really no such thing as a standard working day. Her schedule provides structure, but unexpected questions and requests often set the pace of her day.
“In the morning, I make a list of what I want to do that day, but nine times out of ten, things turn out differently. The days really fly by here.”
That variety is exactly what makes her work enjoyable. From her central position within Emoss, Monique also speaks to almost everyone. Colleagues easily stop by with a question, for a chat or to share something. That combination of organising and connecting with people suits her well.
She also appreciates Emoss’s informal culture. Communication is direct, there is little hierarchy and there is always room for humour. Exactly the kind of environment in which Monique feels at home.
Moving to Gilze
The upcoming move to the new premises in Gilze involves a great deal of organising. Even so, Monique is mainly excited. She is looking forward to working from the new location with the whole team and welcoming visitors and customers in a modern environment. For someone who values hospitality, that is especially meaningful. But what the new location can offer her colleagues is just as important to her.
“I really think it will be an improvement for everyone, with modern workspaces and a professional workshop. Everyone who has seen the building is enthusiastic. I think it will bring us even closer together as a team.”
Monique outside Emoss
Outside Emoss, Monique also enjoys variety. Music plays a major role in her life, with tastes ranging from classical music to Rammstein. She also enjoys travelling and spending time with everyone she cares about.
A family cruise through the Norwegian fjords with her husband and children is on her wish list. And if she could choose one destination she would still like to visit? South Africa is high on the list.
Welcoming, practical and always ready for a chat: Monique makes people feel at home while also ensuring that everything is taken care of behind the scenes. That is exactly why Monique is much more than the first face you see at Emoss. She is one of the people who keep everything running.
